Type B Jumbo Bag

Type B bulk bags are similar to type A bulk bags because they are made of plain-woven polypropylene fabric or other non-conductive materials. Like type A bulk bags, type B bags have no mechanism to eliminate static electricity. The difference between type A and type B FIBC is that type B is made from the material with a low breakdown voltage to prevent high energetic and dangerous propagating brush discharges occur. Although type B bulk bags can prevent spreading brush discharge, they are not considered anti-static bulk bags because they do not eliminate static charge.

There are two ways to achieve low breakdown voltage in FIBC made of woven polypropylene. The first method is to use uncoated fabrics. Although polypropylene tape has a high breakdown voltage, the air gap in the uncoated fabric braid has a low enough breakdown voltage to prevent the occurrence of PBD. Obviously, type B FIBC made from uncoated fabrics cannot be used to package powders or other materials that may produce fine powders, which may leak from uncoated fabrics. The second method to achieve a low breakdown voltage if to apply a very thin coating. However, due to the way of coating is applied to the bulk bag fabric, very thin coatings are likely to have holes and tears.

Although the breakdown voltage of fabrics with very thin coatings may be low, it is almost certain that is does not provide the sealing and protection required for packaging powders.
