Type A jumbo bag is made of plain polypropylene and other non-conductive fabrics. Static electricity is generated when the product moves or rubs over the inner surface of the bulk bag when it is filled/ emptied. Type A FIBC does not provide static protection.
The non-flammable products can be transported in bulk bags. There should be no flammable solvents or gases around Type A FIBC.
The inherent electrostatic hazard of type A bulk bag is that they do not have any mechanism to dissipate static electricity, nor will they prevent the occurrence of and dangerous propagating brush discharges (PBD). As there are no electrostatic control requirements for this type of bulk bag, there are no electrostatic tests as specified in the standard and no labelling requirements. Although bulk bags can be marked as type A FIBC, this is rarely done. Bulk bags not marked as type B, type C or type D can be regarded as type A.
